Its stood strong for me I've had this saw for over a year now. I use it for clearing dead timber out here in Colo. where I use it on a weekly basis for 3-4 longs days at at a time. Only once did I think I had a problem. I've cut a lot of larger timber of 24-30 inch sizes and bogged it down a little too much at times. There was a day when I thought it got too hot and saw smoke, but it ended up being dirt-saw dust or spilled bar oil under the exhaust. Just to be sure, I took it in to a local mechanic who works on husky and stihl, and he said its fine, tried reproducing the problem and couldn't replicate it. I took it home, put a new chain on it, cleaned under the exhaust, and it runs great. I've found with some professional saws that they don't always start that easy when starting cold. But if you warm it up in the winter by letting it sit inside near the fire place for 15 minutes, it'll start easy like you've had it running for hours. I use to fight fire for the U.S. Forest Service on two type I shot crews and a helitack crew, and husqvarna has been great! And I was never good with adjusting for elevation, so the autotune is great to have. November 10, 2014
The Darkhorse of Chainsaws This is my very first saw. I did EXTENSIVE research for over six months before deciding on the Husky 555. I wanted something high quality at the best price point for the overall best value. This meant not going with any of the homeowner or ranch saws since they are mostly plastic components that will be more susceptible to cracking and breakage. I hesitated going with a commercial saw because they are more expensive and I don't work for a tree company. Then I found the perfect match, the darkhorse of saws, the Husqvarna 555. It has commercial grade components (i.e. magnesium crankcase) but without the other fancypants features of more expensive commercial saws. The price was fair, paid $550. This is a solidly powerful saw at 60cc and comes equiped with other excellent features such as: Autotune - no carb adjustments needed and X -Torq - sips fuel for less refueling I have now bucked 9 cords of logs and I have no regrets. It gets the job done. October 24, 2014
Nice Saw! After using a buddys 357XP I decided it was time to replace my 30 year old echo - the echo still runs excellent - but man are these new saws nice to operate! Smooth, low vibration and fast cutting - and with a 24in bar the 555 weighs1.5 lbs less than my old echo 65cc saw with a 20 in bar! The 555 is a great saw, and a good value. October 6, 2014
Lotsa Power This thing beats the heck out of any other 60cc farm/ranch saw I don't care what make (lighter and more powerful). It is also $200 more than a farm/ranch saw. You get what you pay for. September 26, 2014
Powerful i was really unsure of the self adjusting carb at first. But this saw has been amazing ! September 11, 2014
great saw I went back and forth between this Husky and two other saws from major brands (one U.S. and one German.) I decided that this saw offered the best value in it's class. Power, value, weight, and long term durability played into my decision. I have had favorable experiences with other husky products in the past which helped to sway my decision (husky trimmers and chainsaws we ran day in and day out during summer jobs.) I bought this saw with a 20" bar and the first week I got it I was cutting up 20-28" diameter poplar and cherry poles into 18" lengths and ripping them into halves. This saw cut with authority and never missed a beat. It has gotten stronger with every tank of fuel so far- which by the way seems to be really easy on. I bought a few quarts of the pre-mixed husky fuel for it when I purchased the saw which extended the warranty to 4 years and the dealer also threw in a case and an extra chain for free. In the month I've had it I have cut about 4 cords of wood and am satisfied with the purchase. June 13, 2014
Great Saw!!! I bought this saw a couple weeks ago after talking to several people about the 555. I wanted a 60cc saw for firewood cutting duties, and this saw came highly recommended. This is the first Husqvarna I have ever owned and could not be more pleased. So far I have cut 4-5 cords of wood, including a Red Oak that had fallen, and was about 38" DBH. I run a 20" bar on the saw and it has performed flawless. The more I run it the stronger it gets. I noticed one poster called it a "Rancher", this is not a "Rancher" series of saws, I was under the understanding it is a "PRO" series saw. Anyway I average 15 cord plus per year and I think it would be hard to find a better firewood saw. June 4, 2014
One day saw? I bought my 555Rancher to fell about 8 trees at church....using the manufactures gas scored the cylinder within 3 hours cutting an old pine, took it back and was accused of using poor gas but they reluctantly replaced it with a new saw. Next week felling an old oak, 4 hours in and after filling gas, oil and tightening chain, it wouldn't start. I took it back and again a scored cylinder, they again are replacing the saw but they are saying the new auto tune system isn't designed to really "work" the saw so if it "boggs" down the slightest it leans itself out and scores your cylinder. So now they (the dealer) are recommending that I accept a 460 in the place of the 555?????? May 23, 2014
