Husqvarna LGT2554

The Husqvarna LGT2554 delivers premium performance at a very competitive price. Powered by a twin cylinder 25 hp Kohler courage engine, this light duty garden tractor features a 54" deck with 3 blades and a 4 gallon fuel tank designed for mowing large estates. The fender shift hydrostatic transmission allows for easy maneuvering forward or backward. A simple pull of the button on the control panel engages the blades while an hour meter tracks the usage for future scheduled maintenance. 4 gauge wheels on the deck prevent scalping of grass in uneven terrain. Additional features include 22" rear tires, a bumper, 7-position cutting height adjustment, 18" turning radius, and a comfortable 15" high back adjustable seat. Like our other tractors, the LGT2554 has a welded frame and cast-iron front axle for greater durability.

More bang for the buck! Literally, like the review title states I do get more bang for the buck. Here's why: I recently purchased a LGT 2554 Husqvarna from my local Lowe's. I already owned a Husqvarna for two years so I was impressed/familiar with them. I purchased a Husqvarna 2348LS with a 48 in deck after returning from Iraq in Sept 2008. Since I mow about 3 acres, I wanted to upgrade to a 54" deck. I'm amazed at how much the 25 hp Kohler Courage sips gas vs my other tractor with a 23 h.p. B & S engine. Both are twin cyl engines too. I also like the fender mounted hydrostatic speed control. My foot doesn't get as tired after an hour or so of mowing and the bigger 54" deck cuts down time spent mowing. A noticed a few glitches after bringing the new one home though. The choke needed adjusting and the tractor moved forward slowly when in neutral. This was covered in the manual and 15 min later I had it adjusted but still, sort of a safety issue. I would have thought Lowe's would've tested/adjusted that. Overall VERY happy with my purchase though. Go with Husavarna, you won't be dissapointed! FYI: For those having difficulty determining how much gas you have left in your tank and frustrated at the unreadable gas window below the seat, take a peek under your left fender before getting on. You'll be able to tell much easier how much fuel is in the tank. June 20, 2011
LGT2554 Works Great We have 2 acres and wouldn't use anything less than a 54 inch cut. The LGT2554 has enough speed and power to take care of the lawn, plus manage a small trailer and spreader for greater utility. For the price, this was the right machine and it has done everything we asked it to do. March 27, 2011
Husqvarna LGT2554 After comparing multiple garden tractors, I finally chose the Husqvarna tractor because of the hydro drive transmission, Kolher engine, and large mowing deck size. Previously having an old Murry 6 speed tractor, I expected a huge improvement with the purchase of this tractor. Having alot of hills to mow, I thought this tractor would be good for hills due to the size, and hydro transmission. I was wrong. This tractor is difficult to get up the smallest hill. The tires start spinning, and it gets stuck. I have used a John Deere and Murry tractor in the past and have not had this trouble mowing the same areas. I kept the old murry mower, and have used it to mow areas where the new Husqvarna will not go. Maybe you could consider putting some weights, or filling the tires with antifreeze to help with traction. The old 10 HP Murry mower has traction weights, that I do not even use, and it will still run circles around the Husqvarna on hills. I have also had problems with the drive belt coming off, and the headlights are flickering on and off. I have checked the connection for the headlight wire, which appered to be ok . Apparently, there is a short in the first headlight causing the problem. As far as the drive belt coming off, I have no idea what is causing this (currently in the shop for this). On the bright side, the deck is easy to take on and off to put the belt back on. Also, the hydro shifter is difficult to move from forward to reverse, due to the design of the plastic opening that the drive control " handle " comes through. Overall, this tractor is a dissapointment. I would not recommend a Husqvarna tractor product to anyone. November 27, 2011
Will not stay running bought the LGT 2554 from the Elizabeth City, NC Lowes in Sept 2011, and got a great deal on it. when i got it home i was not able to use for about 2 weeks due to lots or rain. Once i did start using it, boy was i impressed! powerful, smooth, turned on a dime,... and then the issue started. About 15-20 minutes into the cut, it started sputtering like it was running out of gas. So i filled it up. it wouldn't start. after about 1/2 hour of letting it sit, it finnally started and i continued mowing. 15-20 minutes later, same thing... but this time i noticed it was extremely hot. so i shut it off and checked the oil level, and it was so hot, the plastic dip stick burned my finger. so i called Lowes and they said return it since it hadn't been 30 days yet. The store did not have another, so we started the repair cycle. Two weeks later, i get my mower back from the authorized repair facility, with a "no repair needed ticket". so i started mowing again....same issue again! called the Lowes repair center and the repair center picked it up the next day. they called me and said they can not get it to fail, and brought it back to me. this time it took about 1/2 hour to start shutting off, and while it was doing it, i called the repair center and they heard it over the phone, so the next day they were back out to pick it up. this time they cut their own grass with it for several hours and 3 tanks of grass...no failure.....so i tell the repair guy that i'm no idiot, i know how to run this machine...why is it only doing it on my land? he didn't have an answer for me. so we get it back, and my wife is cutting, and 20 minutes later...same thing! we call the guy back, and he comes to our place this time instead of his delivery guy, and it won't fail...he states about bad gas, or how the old plastic gas cans we have can make the gas have contaminates in it, etc...so we get new ones, use the Sta-bil gas treatment, the whole 9 yards, and guess what...it worked!....for about an hour that is! i am so frustrated with this unit, i feel like i took $2000 dollars and lit it on fire in the street! needless to say...i'll be calling Lowes, yet again. durability I have had this mower for just over a year. It does a beautiful job when cutting the grass with an eighteen inch cutting radius weed wacking has become easier. This mower runs and starts like a dream. The speed is a little low (6 mph) but like I typed before it does a great job. Has the power to go up hills while cutting as if it was on flat land. The hour timmer tells you when it's time to change the oil. This is a very good mower. Terry November 10, 2011
Do Not Buy My new Husqvarna lasted 2 years before the hydrostatic transmission went bad. It was 2 months out of warranty and Husqvarna would not do anything about it except say "sorry about your luck". I think Husqvarna knows that their "hydrostatic" transmission is defective. I'm surprised there is not a class action law suit against them yet. Believe me, I would jump on board if there was or, if there will be. There is no reason a transmission should fail in that short of time. I have a cheap Yardman tractor that was purchased 7 years ago and it is still going strong. My advise is to stay away from Husqvarna. They will not stand behind you or their defective product. October 26, 2011
good looks no muscel I bought this mower for two reasons. #1 I wanted more power to get up the slopes with out the mower bogging down. Sadly this does not do much better than my 18 horse rally mower I had. In addition The hydrostatic drive dosent lock into place and it slowly kreeps down so you are constantly adjusting your speed. #2 Stable ride and wheels that grip. Here again I thought this trailer would grip the ground better because of the larger wheels and I was told that both wheels had "drive" this is not the case, only one whell has traction so I still get stuck every once in a while. I also thought because it had a wider platform/stance it would help with smoothing out the ride but it dosent... On the good side: it does cut a larger swath than my old tractor and is a little faster, it has lights and it has a little better adjustments for cutting. ALL in ALL had I been able to mow with this before I bought it I would have Bought the smaller version and saved myself 7-800 dollars... It is just not worth the xx money... October 15, 2011
Previous Husqvarna Owner This is the second Husqvarna riding garden tractor I have purchased. Ease of use, quality construction and dependability are the reasons I purchased a second mower for my second home in Virginia. The tension rod spring broke 4 months after purchase and was back-ordered for a month. This will be my last Husqvarna purchase, poor customer service plus no availability on simple replacement parts equals new brand name for me. October 3, 2011
