Defects Not Repaired. Company Unresponsive. We added a 357XP to our saw fleet in 2012. At first, we were very impressed with the power/weight and the overall performance of the saw. Shortly after purchase, the saw began leaking chain oil profusely. We took the saw back to the dealer but he was unable to find a remedy and Husqvarna denied any knowledge of oil leak issues. We called many Husqvarna phone numbers and spoke with many Husqvarna employees and they all told us that Husqvarna communicates with end users only through their dealer network. We are an agroforestry company operating in Hawaii for 57 years. We have been using Husky saws since they were first imported to this country. There are no competent repair shops on this island so we must perform all our own repairs. We have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to find resolution to this problem. Close examination reveals that the oil plumbing is so poorly designed it is a miracle that any oil reaches the chain. This problem is not unique to us. Search engines yield a plethora of similar complaints. In recent years, Husky has built a very efficient firewall around communications and responsibility. We have more problems with our Stihl saws but, unlike Husky, Stihl offers ready access to excellent technicians, via internet and telephone. We strongly recommend against purchasing any Husqvarna products. September 22, 2014
A very tidy bit of kit I picked up my 357 from a friend in a well used condition. I've got to say, even with the hammering he gave it, it's still going strong. Early this year storm after storm beat trees down everywhere, it's nice to know my 357 will handle most jobs. August 10, 2014
Leaks Oil! I own a farm and had 2 Husqvarna saws before buying the largest a Husqvarna 357 XP. They told me it was a professional saw. It was purchased in Dec. 2012. I remember last season it leaked oil but didn't worry about it until this season when it didn't seem to be oiling the bar enough. After you set it down it leaks oil all over anything its sits on. Called the dealer where I bought it and of course its out of warranty. Paid over $700 for it. Not happy. The saw cuts good and has sufficient power but leaks oil. I don't think it will be hard to fix but disappoints me to have to work on it.. November 26, 2013
Long life saw Bought my saw 8 years ago from Cambrian power tools, Wales. it has been dropped from the top of a pine tree (new rubbers and a service) seized once (due to my using months old petrol, new piston ring fitted) and has cut all manner of trees/wood. It has been serviced twice in that time and has not failed to perform despite the abuse i have subjected it too. It does not leak oil and is the best chainsaw i have owned to date. When it eventually dies (and if my dealer says it cant be fixed) i am buying another one. GREAT SAW. October 2, 2013
Powerful saw when it starts Bought the saw brand new the day before Sandy. It was a good call as a big oak came down across my driveway and I was able to clear it in an hour with the XP. I am not a professional tree man, but was got decent use out of the saw. It sat for about a month and when I went to use it again, it wouldn't start and constantly flooded. Took it back to the dealer who said it was a faulty carb an claimed to replace it. It still floods, won't start and is in the repair shop constantly. Not what I would expect from a saw in this price range and almost brand new. Currently being fixed again. It will go to the highest bidder on eBay and replaced with a more reliable professional grade saw. This might be a great saw for everyday use, but clearly it can't sit for more then a few days before being impossible to start. When it is running it is a very impressive saw. September 18, 2013
Love it but is leaks like a siv everything about it is great, except it leaks bar oil like crazy, the dealer worked on it under warranty did not solve the problem however. July 7, 2013
Great all around saw! I bought this saw to help me clean up my 10 ac of trees. I wanted ONE saw to do it all, falling limbing etc. I love this saw plenty of power and still light enough to use all day.The first day I put it to use I cut down 15 pine trees, limbed them and cut them into 20 ft lengths clearing my home site. I was tired but the saw loved all the work. October 18, 2012
Great saw! I have been using this saw for a couple years now. It has cut many logs and also lots of firewood. With a sharp chain it cuts scary fast! The weight is not too heavy, and is also well balanced for a full day of cutting. Works as well as, if not better than the competing brand of saw, and I own them also! With a little maintenance this saw should last for years. I highly recommend Husqvarna. Keep up the good work! August 4, 2012
