HUSQVARNA 450 4.5 5 201 201
Excellent Saw Best saw I've ever owned. Would not buy anything else but Husqvarna. September 17, 2012
New Husky 450 Purchased this chainsaw as I was wanting a lighter weight unit than my other Husky's. This one fit that bill nicely. It does have good power for a 50cc saw. It is good for medium/large size jobs. It does good on both gas and bar oil. I was surprised that even though there is no adjustment for the bar oil, it did not use it like some saws I have owned with a factory set chain oiler. The Saw does start with one or two pulls everytime. The compression release is a must and this saw has it. Nice to be able to view the gas with the outside window too. Now for some of you out there that have run into the trouble of getting the outside case back on after taking it off to clean the saw or change a bar or chain. It really does not matter if you take the side case off with the chain break on or off, easier if it is off. But for some reason, many times the break will come on during disassembly making it seem impossible to get back on. It is simple to get back on if you do it right. Simply take the bar and the chain off and press the side firmly back on and reset the break to the off position, take the side back off and then reinstall the bar and chain, the side will go right on with no trouble. This resets the break to the off position so that the break spring inside will fit around the clutch, walla. You can't do it with the bar and chain on it, period. Seems like the good people at Husquvarna would let you in on that little secret you would think, but I did it for you. Happy cutting. September 12, 2012
parts, support, hard to come by, bar to flexible I recently purchased my 450 with 20" bar from Lowes and used it to cut up a large pine tree 3' diameter which had been sectioned and pulled from a lake 2 months prior. The wood was still quite wet so the cutting was challenging. The saws power seemed good but the flexibility of the bar allows the chain to bind and makes cutting difficult. I purchased the Husky instead of a Stihl because I wanted easy access to parts if I needed them on a weekend. I was surprised to find that the replacement chains that I was sold at the time do not fit this saw, and I have since discovered that Lowes does not carry replacement chains or bars for this saw in a 20" link. The Lowe's staff was ill informed, and unable to help with the problem. The Husqvarna website simply directs you back to the dealer where no help is forthcoming. I'm still attempting to find replacement chains to no avail. If a stiffer bar is available for the saw, the performance would be greatly improved. The saw itself starts easily, is lightweight, and easy to use, if the bar was a bit stiffer I would rate it as excellent. Parts availability and lack of support are very disappointing. Throws chain, dealer says my fault! Used this saw three times for 10 minutes. Each time it throws the chain off the sproket and wrecks the chain. Have been through 4 chains. Took to dealer and they say nothing is wrong. It must be the way I am using it. I have been using Husqvarna saws for 15 years, never a problem. This one has been completely unusable. 450 throws off chain I have owned 3-4 saws over the years and decided on a Husky because of my friends' recommendations. BIG mistake!!!!!! I have used it only twice (I am on my second tank of fuel), and both times the saw has thrown off the chain and ruined it. I kept the bar/chain secure both times but the chain still came off. The dealer that I purchased the saw from refused to deburr the chain so I had to purchase another one. I am not sure what I am going to do, but I can't afford to buy a new chain every time I use the saw. I has owned chainsaws for over thirty years and never, not once, have I ever ruined a chain because it came off the bar. September 1, 2012
Nice saw First time out, this saw cut really nice. Since I have only used this saw twice since purchase, it's hard to give a real accurate review. Hence, the 4 star rating. Husqvarna....please send me another review request at least 6-12 months later so that I can give a review based on more use. I've used mostly Stihls in the past but recently had an issue with the design of the switch mechanism on a MS 290 which pushed me to purchase a Husky instead. So far, so good but I would like to review again with some more time on the saw. August 19, 2012
Husqvarna 450 I bought this saw (18") online for an amazing price. I had purchased a new home in April and started using this for land clearing. I have since added the 460 for the larger trees, but this saw has become my favorite. It is very light and it is great to work with on felled trees. Powerful enough for most duties and light enough to have around all day. It is also good on gas. I would buy this saw again if anything ever happened to it. August 14, 2012
Best Saw 4 The Ol Mighty Dollar I had a craftsman chain saw 4 years till it died.. My Friend told me 2 buy a 450 Husky and i will never buy any other brand of saw again. My 450 Husky is powerful and starts up on the 1st or 2nd pull.I cut about 5 or 6 plus cords of wood a year and it has the power and duribilty to do all the firewood i can throw at it and much much more. I store my Husky in my old Craftsman case and everytime time i do a job 4 someone they think i have a Craftsman in my case and i pull out my 450 Husky chainsaw and the are all impressed with my trick up my sleeve.
