450 throws off chain
I have owned 3-4 saws over the years and decided on a Husky because of my friends' recommendations. BIG mistake!!!!!! I have used it only twice (I am on my second tank of fuel), and both times the saw has thrown off the chain and ruined it. I kept the bar/chain secure both times but the chain still came off. The dealer that I purchased the saw from refused to deburr the chain so I had to purchase another one. I am not sure what I am going to do, but I can't afford to buy a new chain every time I use the saw. I has owned chainsaws for over thirty years and never, not once, have I ever ruined a chain because it came off the bar.

First time out, this saw cut really nice. Since I have only used this saw twice since purchase, it's hard to give a real accurate review. Hence, the 4 star rating. Husqvarna....please send me another review request at least 6-12 months later so that I can give a review based on more use.
I've used mostly Stihls in the past but recently had an issue with the design of the switch mechanism on a MS 290 which pushed me to purchase a Husky instead. So far, so good but I would like to review again with some more time on the saw.

I bought this saw (18") online for an amazing price. I had purchased a new home in April and started using this for land clearing. I have since added the 460 for the larger trees, but this saw has become my favorite. It is very light and it is great to work with on felled trees. Powerful enough for most duties and light enough to have around all day. It is also good on gas. I would buy this saw again if anything ever happened to it.

Best Saw 4 The Ol Mighty Dollar
I had a craftsman chain saw 4 years till it died.. My Friend told me 2 buy a 450 Husky and i will never buy any other brand of saw again. My 450 Husky is powerful and starts up on the 1st or 2nd pull.I cut about 5 or 6 plus cords of wood a year and it has the power and duribilty to do all the firewood i can throw at it and much much more. I store my Husky in my old Craftsman case and everytime time i do a job 4 someone they think i have a Craftsman in my case and i pull out my 450 Husky chainsaw and the are all impressed with my trick up my sleeve.

This product is a fine chainsaw.
I purchased this saw to back up my first husqvarna for cutting fire wood and it has been running goos for ten years.
The 450 has a longer bar and more power but is lighter than my older saw a Husqvarna 51.

received my 450 chainsaw from Amazon a few days ago. fully read the instruction manual. it started with a few pulls last night, so i discarded the shipping box...cannot restart it today. will not even "puff". quality fuel with precisely the proper mix. followed starting instructions exactly as described. very disappointed. what now?

Powerful Saw, Confusing Manual, Chain Brake Issues
I Love the 450. Ran it about an hour when I first got it and it was like a hot knife going thru butter. Never having used a chainsaw before, and thought I was following the manual to put the saw into operation for the first time, I somehow removed the side cover to remove packing material around the clutch, that the manual said was placed there for shipping. I didn't know the consequences of the chain brake being engaged. When I put the cover back on, the brake spring was clamped over the clutch and the brake was on. After using it for a while and letting it cool down, the saw would not crank at all. It was like the engine had seized. Calls to Amazon and then to Husqvarna had me take it to a repair shop. I was told the damaged brake spring wasn't covered under warranty because it was something I did wrong and not a manufacturers fault. I fully understood this and took responsibility for the damage. I just wish the instruction manual was a little better written and had more pictures of how to put the saw into operation and what not to do and the consequences. Maybe even include a DVD showing the saw being put into operation for the first time. I really thought I was following the directions. The manual should say "the saw can be gassed up, chain oil added and started without anything else being done to it". I still love the product though and would recommend it even if I do have to pay for the repair to my brand new saw.
