User manual doen't fit chainsaw
Bought my saw. Opened the book. Found the book indecipherable. Got the self tension adjusting saw with directions for how to adjust with a wrench. Nope. So I got a saw and can't use it. Can't call customer support because when I need them they are not there. Have to rememeber to not use my saw on weekends, Than;s if I ever actually get to use it.

Great saw for homeowners
I love this saw. It works great for homeowners and small clearing jobs. I`ve had this 440 with an 18" blade(replaced the 16")for over three years and it has never let me down.Starts 3rd pull everytime. I cut about 4 cords a year for firewood and do some landscaping around the home. I recently bought 4 acres of heavy wooded land and am in the process of clearing it for building. My little 440 has gave it a valiant effort but I have to move up to something bigger. The 24-36" oaks are too much for it. Mind you it does the job but it requires to much muscle and time. Looks like a 460 Rancher is in my future.

A Lotta Saw
What a great saw! Powerful and big enough for almost any job and easy to handle. You can run this saw for hours and you will be amazed at how little fatigue you will experience. But you will give out before this saw does and I love the tool-less chain tensioner.

throttle trigger front pin (?)
I have a concern about the chromed pin that holds the throttle trigger. It seems to want to work out while I'm working with the saw and I keep catching myself pushing it in place. Does this Pin have a bend in it to keep it from sliding out all the way or do I have to be careful that it doesn't slide? If this is a problem then I'll have to lower my current review.

great for limbing
Bought this saw so that I would have a light, maneuverable, reasonably powerful saw for light to medium work. Limbing downed trees, and clearing areas from around trees that will be fell is a job that takes the starch out of you if you use a larger heavier professional saw. The 440e is excellent for this purpose. The no-tool type of chain tensioner is really good to have in these situations where the bar is constantly being caught in unpredictable pinches and the limbs keep trying to rip the chain off the bar. Adjustments are quick and easy with the toolless chain tensioner.

It is so nice to finally have a saw that starts easily. This is a very well built saw w/ plenty of power. The only problem is the manual. It appears to have been written by the legal dept. It is 80% warnings & 20% useful information. A new owners manual needs to be written by someone that actually uses a saw & knows what information a new owner needs. There needs to be much more detailed information on how to service & maintain the saw.

I have used the chainsaw after it arrived a few days. It started after 3 pulls and I cut couple of wood logs to try. It worked just very good.
