This Small Splitting axe is best suited for basic splitting of lighter fire wood. The head is designed to go easy into the wood, with minimal effort by the chopper, and split the wood in two parts. The small size makes it possible to use with one-hand grip.Comes with an edge cover in leather. The head is attached to the handle using both a wooden and a steel wedge to secure fastening.

About Me Do-It-Yourself
Ordered this from online dealer . Shipped from CA 95776 . Emailed and called about hang of handle , could run a zip tie 1 1/4 " from the bottom of the head up the handle . Not much holding the head on , but was told that it would not affect it's use , and how I would be happier with one of the other name brands they sell .NOT20 1/4 " start .Drilled out wedges , Hours with knife and sandpaper . 20 min. at sharpening station . Now 19 1/4 " long . Good size chips . Splits well . Nice feather sticks .I really like this thing .

A life long love of axes
Comments about Husqvarna Carpenter's axe:
I use this axe every day at work. It's the best axe I have ever owned. Setting wedges, cutting brush, and falling up to 18 inch trees. This axe is always up to work. I will pass this axe on to my kids.

Husquvarna carpenters axe
This axe is an outstanding piece of craftsmanship. I am a carpenter by trade and an adventure enthusiast. This axe has cloven through just about every north american hardwood there is and no matter how many times I put it to use I'm still impressed at how well it preforms. This is one of the best axes I've put to work and probably the best for the money, oh and size to power ratio is out standing. You need a good axe that won't cost hundreds this is it.

Nice carpenter's axe
I am both a woodworker and a camper. I bought this axe for general bushcraft use. The handle is ergonomically shaped, properly fitted to the axe head, and oil finished. The grinding job wasn't very good, but a few minutes on a belt sander fixed that. The axe can be sharpened keenly enough to shave hair. By thinning down the bit and giving the edge a high polish I was able to take down an 8" sweet gum tree in 5 minutes with it. I've used the axe to make feather sticks, rough out a wooden spoon, and chop down a few trees. While a little heavy for backpacking, this axe is a great all around chopping tool. I'm very happy with the quality and features of this medium sized axe.

After doing some research about axes I heard about husqvarna and they're quality. I liked the size of this axe for camping. Not too big but large enough for some heavier work. I really like the shape of the axe head too. It does as they said it would. It allows me to get my hand almost compley behind the edge of the axe. Also when my hand is choked up that high the axe is almost perfectly balanced making it easy to control for fine whittling and carving. I'm Very happy with the handle as well. The grain seems to run nicely parallel the blade (as it should) and no defects to speak of.My only negative comment is that the axe head wasn't as nicely finished as I feel it could have been. There were deep grind marks on the face of the axe that could have been smoothed out. But with a little elbo grease and some sandpaper I was able to get them out.Overall a great axe.I'm really glad I got two. One for me and one for my cousin. He's thrilled with it as well. Thanks husqvarna for making a great tool at a reasonable price! :)
