Safer work at a fast pace - Husqvarna 550XPT

Things can move quickly when a team is felling trees or cutting branches in large commercial applications that require high precision at all times and it pays to invest in the right equipment to ensure work can be carried out safely at a fast pace. The Husqvarna TrioBrake system was launched back in 2010 and today still stands out as a unique innovation that makes chainsaw work simpler and more efficient.

3 ways to stop the chain

TrioBrake is Husqvarna's unique chain brake that enables the chain to be stopped quickly in three different ways: automatically via the inertia function or manually when the operator comes into contact with the front or rear guard. Besides the fact that TrioBrake stops the chain in the event of a kickback, the chain brake is also triggered if the chainsaw is not used in the right way in terms of working technique and ergonomics.

Activation by inertia – If a kickback occurs and the tip of the bar is forced upwards, the inertia of the front guard automatically activates the chain brake. This feature is standard on all Husqvarna chainsaws.

TrioBrake
Activation with left hand – In certain situations, the chain brake can be manually activated by the operator’s left hand. The chainsaws upward movement caused the front kickback guard to come in contact with the user’s left hand. This feature is standard on all Husqvarna chainsaws.
TrioBrake
Activation by right hand – Exclusive to Husqvarna TrioBrake chainsaws, thanks to a second kickback guard near the chainsaws rear handle, the chain brake can also be manually activated by the operator’s right hand. The guard has been ergonomically designed to be out of the operator’s way when the saw is handled correctly.

Simpler, more efficient work

With the Husqvarna TrioBrake system, operators can move more smoothly and work faster – for example, when cutting or trimming a tree, all it takes is a flick of the right wrist against the rear guard to stop the chain and the operator has their left hand free to remove branches or other things that are in the way.

Reduced risk of injury

Another important advantage is that it encourages operators to adopt correct working techniques, such as bending with your knees and not your back, which helps you to work more ergonomically. This can help to reduce the risk of back pain and other repetitive strain injuries that might otherwise occur if you stand or use the saw incorrectly. If you work in a good ergonomic position, with the saw close to your body, it also helps to reduce the risk of kickback.

Exclusive to the Husqvarna 550XP TrioBrake Chainsaw

With industry leading safety features, the 550XP TrioBrake also boasts an extremely ergonomic design and aggressive performance. The compact and low weight design, which includes a narrow body for ease of handling, a centre of gravity close to the front handle for better manoeuvrability and reduced weight in moving components, which reduces gyro forces to improve acceleration and allows better control – makes this saw extremely responsive.

Equipped with the tried and test X-Torq® engine, making the 550XP TrioBrake as powerful and efficient as can be by lowering both fuel consumption and emissions while at the same time increasing power. Add to this the convenient AutoTunefunction, which provides optimal engine performance without the need for manual adjustments to the carburettor, automatically compensating for different types of fuel qualities, blocked air filter, altitude and temperature – and you have one of the most innovative chainsaws on the market today.

Advanced engine technology aside, this saw has been built with advanced features synonymous with Husqvarna chainsaws.

The angled front handle provides plenty of room for the left hand, making felling and limbing applications easier, while the asymmetrical rear handle is perfectly positioned to provide a natural working stance. For ease of operation and improved control, it’s equipped with Husqvarna’s Low Vib® anti-vibration system, which uses heavy-duty steel springs to separate the handles from the engine, resulting in low vibration levels.

Advanced air filtration is provided by the Air Injection system, which removes up to 97% of dust before it enters the air filter, resulting in smoother operation, longer intervals between filter cleans and reduced wear on the engine. Professional grade durability and performance is maintained with heavy-duty components, including a forged three-piece crankshaft and magnesium crankcase.

The Husqvarna 550XP TrioBrake chainsaw is one of the most innovative saws on the market today. Husqvarna has compromised on nothing when developing this product to ensure users are provided with the ultimate combination – More power, fewer emissions and no time consuming adjustments, without compromising on performance.
